EAIT Industry Mentoring connects students with UQ graduates and industry professionals for career conversations, practical advice and professional insight.
Students can gain insight into working in industry, while mentors can share their experience in a way that suits their availability and preferred level of involvement.
There are two ways to take part: build an ongoing mentoring relationship through Semester Mentoring or book focused 30-minute conversations through Ask Industry.

You do not need to have your career figured out before joining as a student, or all the answers before joining as a mentor. Mentoring is an opportunity to ask questions, share experience and explore different perspectives.

Build an ongoing mentoring relationship across one semester.
Semester Mentoring connects an EAIT student one-to-one with a mentor who is a UQ graduate or industry professional. Students can review available mentor profiles and choose someone whose experience aligns with their discipline, interests and professional goals.
Across the semester, students and mentors can explore career pathways, discuss working in industry and identify professional goals and next steps.
For students
Semester Mentoring could suit you if you want to explore career pathways, understand working in industry and have ongoing conversations as your goals and ideas develop.
Your commitment
At least four conversations across the semester. Conversations are usually 30 to 60 minutes and can take place online or in person, as agreed with your mentor.
For mentors
Semester Mentoring could suit you if you want to share your professional experience, support a student’s career learning and help them identify practical next steps.

At least four conversations with the same student across the semester. Conversations are usually 30 to 60 minutes and can take place online or in person, as agreed with your mentee.
Semester 2, 2026 timeline
The timeline below provides a guide to the Semester 2 mentoring process. Students and mentors can arrange conversations within the suggested timeframes.

| Matching | Weeks 3 — from 10 August | Mentor profiles become available for students to review. Students choose a mentor and make initial contact. |
| Conversation 1: Getting started | Week 4 — from 17 August | Get to know each other, agree on expectations and identify what the student would like to focus on during the semester. |
| Conversation 2: Exploring goals | Weeks 5–6 | Explore the student’s chosen topics, questions or goals in more depth. |
| Conversation 3: Feedback and next steps | Weeks 7–9 | Continue the conversation, seek feedback and identify practical next steps. |

Mentor registrations
Ask Industry offers flexible, standalone mentoring conversations between EAIT students and UQ graduates or industry professionals.
Mentors nominate the career, industry or employability topics where they can offer guidance. Students can then choose a mentor whose experience aligns with what they would like to discuss and book an available conversation.
For students
Ask Industry could suit you if you have a focused career, industry or employability topic you would like to discuss.
What to expect
Each booking is for one 30-minute conversation. Come prepared with a focused topic and two or three questions to help you make the most of the session.
For mentors
Ask Industry could suit you if you want to share your professional experience and offer focused guidance without committing to a full semester.
Your commitment
Nominate the topics where you can offer guidance and make 30-minute time slots available through the mentoring platform. Students can book conversations based on your nominated topics and availability.
