Through our strategic international partnerships, you can combine study with travel with European Double Degree.
Selected students will spend at least three semesters studying at one of our international partner institutions in Germany, France, or Italy. Gaining an invaluable global perspective and international industry experience, students will also graduate with formal degrees from both UQ and their chosen university.

Am I eligible?
- Students must be enrolled in the BE(Hons)/ME program to participate in the European Double Degree
- Students must have completed all courses from Years 1-3 (#48 units) of the BE(Hons)/ME to apply
- Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 5 at the time of application
- Due to international student visa restrictions, only domestic students or Australian permanent residents can apply for the program
CentraleSupelec (CS)
CentraleSupélec was officially established in 2015, bringing together two leading engineering schools in France; Ecole Centrale Paris and Supélec.
What makes CentraleSupélec engineers' stand out is their ability to run multidimensional and multidisciplinary projects – integrating the socio-economic, political and environmental balances of a problem, with scientific and technological expertise.
CentraleSupélec is located at the heart of the Paris-Saclay hub – a cluster of higher education and research institutions on the outskirts of Paris.

Technical University of Munich (TUM)
The Technical University of Munich is one of Europe’s top universities and is ranked within the Top 25 universities globally for engineering and technology.
It is committed to excellence in research and teaching, interdisciplinary education and the promotion of promising young scientists.
TUM was one of the first universities in Germany to be named a University of Excellence.
As the capital of Bavaria, Munich is a major cultural and financial centre. Residents enjoy a very high standard of living – ranked 4th worldwide!

Language: At TUM, all coursework required for the EDD is taught in English. TUM also offer free German language classes to new international students. Although not required for the academic side of things, it is recommended that once you are selected for the Double Degree to take some beginner German classes to help assimilate better with the local students in Munich after you arrive.

Politecnico di Milano is a scientific-technological university which trains engineers, architects and industrial designers.
The university was inaugurated in 1863 and has always focused on the quality and innovation of its teaching and research.
Today the drive to internationalisation sees PoliMi take part in the European and world network of leading technical universities, and currently holds the title of the best university in Italy and top 20 globally for engineering and technology.
Milan is well-known as a hub for designers, artists, photographers and models. It has an ancient city centre full of interesting buildings and palazzos.

How to apply
Follow the steps below to start your European study adventure!
Step 1. Explore your study options
Find out more about our partner institutions. It's time to do some research!
We recommend visiting each institution's website, exploring the courses on offer and reading up on their academics. You should also find out more about living in the institution's country and city.
Step 2. Attend an information session
- EAIT European Double Degree Information Session (watch Zoom recording): Tuesday 1 November, 1.00-2.00pm AEST
- EAIT European Double Degree Information Session 1 (on-campus only): Thursday 23 March 2023, 1.00pm-2.00pm AEST
- EAIT European Double Degree Information Session 2 (on-campus and Zoom): Tuesday 18 April 2023, 12.00pm-1.00pm AEST
- EAIT European Double Degree Information Session 3 (on-campus and Zoom): Thursday 11 May 2023, 1.00-2.00pm AEST
If you are interested in commencing the program in 2023 but cannot attend the above times, you can book a StudentHub appointment or email mobility.eait@enquire.uq.edu.au with your preferred days/times to book an appointment.
Step 3. Submit your application
After completing the first three years (#48 units) of the BE(Hons)/ME, meeting with the Faculty, and deciding on your preferred partner institution, it is time to apply! Please note, these double degree opportunities are not currently available to international students due to student visa restrictions.
Applications for Semester 2, 2023 European Double Degrees are now closed.
Step 4. Submit your BE/ME program change
If you are not already in the program, you will need to transfer into the Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) / Master of Engineering (the BE/ME) program to be eligible. You can submit a program change request to change into the BE/ME through mySInet during the summer or winter semester breaks.
Step 5. Apply to your partner institution
Finally, you will need to submit an application to your chosen partner institution. After submitting your application and program change, a Faculty staff member will contact you with details on how and when to apply. Applications will be open between March and May, depending on the partner institution.
Additional information
- Tuition fees: During the European Double Degree students remain enrolled and pay fees to UQ. No tuition fees are paid to the host university.
- Accommodation: Finding accommodation is the responsibility of the student; however, the accommodation office of your European university will provide information on recommended accommodation options and how to apply.
- Visa: You will need to apply for a student visa for your host country and your host university will guide you through this process
- Insurance: As an enrolled student you will be advised by your host university regarding student insurance within your country of study. However, it is also recommended that you purchase personal travel insurance to cover any weekend or recreational trips in Europe outside of your host country.
- Work: You will need to check the student visa rules for each specific country, but often students can work part time while on a student visa if they would like to.
