A diverse future demands diverse leaders.

Our future should be shaped by leaders that reflect the population they serve. This requires not only more Computer Science and IT professionals, but a more diverse and dynamic profession.

What we want to achieve

The Women in Computing program will educate young women about their perceptions of Computer Science (CS) and Information Technology (IT), highlighting how a career in the sector can lead to innovative solutions to our world's ever-changing problems.

To do this, we work with our extensive network of High Schools across Queensland to deliver interactive activities for high school students to discover technology, including:

  • Hands-on workshops, delivered by staff and the Women in Computing Student Leaders
  • Industry networking and engagement events
  • Industry site visits
  • On-campus and online events and presentations

In addition to the interactive High School outreach and on-campus initiatives for prospective students, the program will deliver a suite of initiatives that
support and develop women studying CS and IT throughout their UQ journey. These include:

  • Collaboration with other programs within UQ (Ventures, Innovate, Employability, Student Clubs and Societies)
  • Professional and personal development workshops
  • Participation in an industry mentoring program

Why partner with us?

  • Be a pioneer in developing CS and IT professionals for the future
  • Direct access to prospective and current students through guest speaking opportunities, and industry networking events
  • Regional outreach opportunities to align with your organisation’s regional footprint
  • Invite students to your organisation through our Industry Day initiative
  • Mentor our Student Leaders through their early career development
  • Increase your visibility with prospective and current students as an organisation who values a diverse future
