Day 2: Architecture, Design and Urban Planning: Designing for resilience: climate ready homes for Queenslanders
Step into the role of architect, engineer, and urban planner in this fun, hands-on workshop where you’ll design and build a model home ready to take on Queensland’s toughest weather challenges.
What You’ll Do:
Build a Model Home: Use a range of materials to create your own miniature house.
Put It to the Test: Challenge your design against simulated floods and high winds using our custom-built testing rig.
Explore Sustainability: Learn how your choice of materials impacts the environment and construction costs.
Why You’ll Love It:
Be Creative: Design a home that’s both disaster-resilient and eco-friendly.
Think Critically: Make smart, real-world decisions like an architect or planner.
Get Hands-On: Collaborate with others and see your design ideas come to life.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll gain valuable insights into building homes that are safe, sustainable, and cost-effective ready for the future of Queensland living.
