Welcome to your orientation for the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology.

Orientation will prepare you for the start of your studies at UQ within the Faculty.

You will get the information you need to help get you started in your degree, learn about the services and support available in the Faculty and across UQ, connect with clubs and societies, and meet staff and students.


Pre-Orientation Support Sessions

Engineering course information and selection session

Need some help choosing courses for your first semester of the BE(Hons), BE(Hons)/ME or a BE(Hons) dual degree? This optional online zoom session will include a presentation which answers some frequently asked questions about how to choose courses in your first semester; and will provide an opportunity for you to ask your own questions.

Getting started in your program

Orientation for Semester 1, 2022 will commence on Tuesday, 15 February.

The University of Queensland Orientation Week (“O-week”) for Semester 1, 2022 is scheduled for Monday 14 – Friday 18 of February.

Compulsory orientation sessions for programs (degrees) within the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology (EAIT) will be held on Tuesday 15 February. Please keep this date free!

Full details of the EAIT orientation program (including registration) will be available mid-January, so please check back then. In the meantime you can review our resources for new students in the faculty.

Specific sessions will be held for each degree in the faculty, and these will provide essential information about your degree, tips for successful study and getting the most out of university, the opportunity to ask questions and to meet staff and other students. Get ready for orientation

To complete your orientation, you need to do five things:

1. Download the UQ Nav app

If you are attending any events on-campus, install the UQ Nav app to help you find your way around the UQ Campus.

2. Install Zoom

If you will be attending any events online, install Zoom on your device, and log in with your UQ username and password.

3. Questions

Make a note of any questions you may already have and bring them along to the information session for your program. Each session will include a Q&A with your academic advisors.

4.  Attend

Attend the orientation information sessions for your program.

5.  Follow us

Get online with Zoom

Online orientation sessions are held using Zoom, an online video, audio and screen sharing platform. You'll be asked to log in to Zoom using your UQ student username and password.

Before Orientation, ensure you have Zoom installed on your device and practice logging in with your username and password.

UQ provides information and support for installing Zoom, and accessing your UQ username and password.
