The Australian's 2026 Research Magazine showcases the transformative contributions of universities nationwide to build a stronger, more sustainable future for all Australians. Two EAIT researchers are among 17 UQ experts recognised for the significant social and economic impact of their work.

Professor Jason Stokes from School of Chemical Engineering UQ is featured for his research with Australia's Food and Beverage Accelerator (FaBA), to help industry to engineer healthier, higher-quality, and more sustainable food and beverage products to support Australian business growth by studying how texture and structure shape taste and mouthfeel.

Dr Juan P. Hidalgo, Senior Adjunct Fellow (honorary) in the UQ School of Civil Engineering, is highlighted for his work to enhance building safety and resilience by advancing fire-safety knowledge through analysing how sustainable construction materials like insulation, timber, and composites perform under real fire conditions.

The University's contribution to addressing some of the world's biggest challenges is acknowledged with UQ named Australia’s top research institution in 26 fields, with 17 UQ researchers listed among the nation’s top 250, and UQ leading across 11 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
