Engineering Changes Graphic

Ranked in the world's top 50 universities, The University of Queensland offers degrees that are developed in consultation with industry, based on cutting-edge research, and taught by some of the world's foremost experts in their areas.

While we're proud to have offered over 110 years of world-class teaching, we are always working to make our degrees the most up-to-date, the most exciting and the most valuable they can be for our students. We also want you to have fun while you study and to get the most out of your time at uni, so we've made a few changes to ensure we tick all of these boxes. You'll be prepared for tomorrow's workplaces and you'll be as happy as Larry when you high five the Chancellor when crossing the graduation stage.

So, check out what we've been working on and don't forget to make UQ engineering your #1 preference.

UQ is all about creating positive change in our communities and across the world, so we’ve created courses focused on engineering for a healthy and sustainable future. Through specialist majors like Civil and Geotechnical Engineering or Electrical and Biomedical Engineering, you can combine a core major with a niche area to broaden your skills and make you stand out from the crowd when you apply for that first industry job!

We have also introduced a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Master of Engineering (BE/ME) program that allows you to roll your undergraduate and postgraduate studies into one unique five-year degree, saving you time and money, and offering you hands-on work placement opportunities that will give you an edge.

Our world-leading (seriously! We're not just saying that) teaching team have redesigned our courses, integrating technology with active learning so you get the knowledge and practical skills to thrive in a constantly changing world.

Beyond excellent facilities and brilliant teaching, you'll be exposed to some of the world's best researchers and you'll get to see into the future of engineering and sustainability practices before they even make it to industry.

Many of our academics recruit students to assist in their projects and this opens doors to the coveted industry, government and academic networks that can set you on your dream career anywhere in the world.

We believe that awesome ideas can come from anyone anywhere, so we’ve introduced the UQ Idea Hub to teach students how to form a startup and succeed as an entrepreneur, turning those big ideas into businesses. This free, extra-curricular program connects young, aspiring students with the innovation community in Queensland, Australia and even around the world. Check out our Startup Adventures - the only program around offering fully funded one-month internships to international locations.

We want to empower our students to have the confidence to try new things, think innovatively, broaden their world view and maybe even develop the next Google. We believe in you!

Getting you employed is our top priority, so we’ve grown our employability team to support and link you with companies like EY, Parsons Brinkerhoff and Boeing, to name a few.

If you want to get a job once you've finished your studies - it's a no brainer. Choose UQ.

UQ just blew every other university in Queensland out of the water in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings. Ranked 49th in the world for unis that will get you a job, we're a good 60+ places ahead of our closest competitor (and it's not the first time).

And you’ll experience all of this in the best facilities, computer labs and study places in Australia - we never stop updating, tweaking and growing so we can offer the best of the best to our students. We also have probably the most beautiful campus (including cutest ducklings and sassiest turtles) in the cosmos. Come and see it all for yourself.
