The Women in Computing program was created to inspire young women to consider a career in technology, a goal that is shared with many remarkable organisations around the world. Our approach is to work together with these organisations and share our resources, creating an even better experience of discovering technology as a young woman.

WiT is one of Australia's biggest communities supporting women in science and technology, providing a dynamic platform to empower women to unlock their career potential.

Thanks to the partnership between UQ and WiT, our Student Leaders are connected to industry pioneers through mentorship programs, professional development opportunities, and celebrating women's outstanding achievements at the annual WiT Awards.
Girls Day Out in STEM offers unique online events for girls aged 10-14 to help them discover their potential through opportunities in STEM.
GPN offers a wide range of free programming workshops to high school students across Australia, hosted by local technologists and teachers.

Our team supports GPN by promoting its workshops to schools, securing UQ facilities to host each event, and organising volunteers to help.
UQ Ventures provides programs, guidance, resources, and events for those exploring entrepreneurship at UQ.

In 2024, our teams worked together at the Design and Technology Teachers’ Association Queensland (DATTA Qld) Conference in 2024 to provide a Design Thinking workshop to high school teachers.
UQSchoolsNet is a not-for-profit internet service provider (ISP) with academic outreach, exclusively created to assist independent schools across Queensland access fast and reliable internet services.

Our support in professional development events helps teachers to create more engaging technology content for their students.
ACM-W advocates internationally for the full engagement of women in all aspects of the computing field, providing a wide range of programs and services to ACM members and working in the larger community to advance the contributions of technical women.

The ACM-W Student Chapter at UQ is dedicated to empowering students through professional networking, mentorship, and celebrating the accomplishments of women in computing. Established in 2023, the Chapter is formed by Women in Computing Student Leaders eager to make professional connections with a global community of women in computing.
