Manan

Engineering (Honours)
(Software)

Who or what made you choose to study this?

I chose to study software engineering because it was the field that always fascinated me as a child, since childhood I grew up watching new pieces of technology being developed and wondered how they functioned, so gradually I decided to take up my passion as my future career. The software sector is also developing at a very fast pace in current times and it ought to be a safe career option in the future.

What do you love most about your degree?

Being a software engineer, I love creating new programmes and testing them. The pure joy of running a code successfully is so full filling and with my degree, I get to know about how various things operate and what sort of algorithms are used for their smooth functioning.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone considering studying at UQ, what would that be?

I would encourage them to start at the right pace with university life as it is a bit different from high school learning. Engineering is a very interesting discipline to study as there are so many practical applications in the industry. While academic grades are important one should also focus on getting involved within the university and making some connections and new friends. So, having a balance between the two major aspects of university life is very important.
