Degree: Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mechanical)
Who or what made you choose to study this?
Growing up, I always enjoyed maths and physics and understanding how things worked. When I was 10, my dad bought me a build-your-own 4-stroke engine set to teach me how a car engine worked. It fascinated me, how science and maths are applied to create such a complex system. Ever since then, I have had the drive to understand how mechanical systems work and how they can be improved.
Why did you choose to study at UQ?
I really enjoy the Queensland weather and I heard that UQ has one of the best engineering programs in the country. Brisbane is a bigger city compared to Darwin so there are more opportunities for me to grow and meet new people that will aid in my career as an engineer
.
What student societies are you a part of?
I am a part of the UQ African Association. My family is Nigerian so interacting with other African students is helpful and relieves my homesickness. I play football recreationally on the UQ ovals with other students and I am thinking of signing up for the UQ team this semester.
