Why did you choose to study at UQ?

I chose to study at UQ because I liked the structure of the Engineering Program and felt as though there was a good balance between practical work and theory that would prepare me well to work on real-world projects post-graduation.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone considering studying at UQ, what would that be?

My experience at UQ has been so positive and I have always felt very supported by the university in all aspects, not just academically. There are so many social events, volunteering opportunities, work experience, networking events, and also services offered to students to ensure that we can succeed. I cannot recommend UQ highly enough and hope that others are considering UQ as their first choice.

Have you participated in any internships / work? If so tell us a bit about it, what did you enjoy most about the experience?

I was able to complete an internship for a mining company over one of the summer holiday breaks. I was able to make the connection to this company through one of the Careers Fairs and was so glad I went because I was ultimately able to secure such a valuable experience at an open cut mine. Being able to see the real life of an engineer out on site was extremely eye opening. My most enjoyable experience was being able to witness a blast. The level of planning and coordination involved aswell as the scale of the blast was like nothing I had seen before.
