Engineering (Honours)
(Mechatronic)

Degree: Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mechatronics)

Why did you choose to study at UQ?

I was drawn to UQ’s campus and the diverse programs and opportunities offered at UQ. Students can
participate in Summer and Winter Research Programs, UQ Ventures programs, and apply for the UQ
Employability Award and there are numerous student societies to join to enhance my university
experience. Additionally, UQ’s world-class facilities and teaching provide valuable resources for practical
learning to support education and research.

What do you love most about your degree?

I love the flexibility of the Mechatronic Engineering degree. Students gain exposure to electrical,
mechanical, and software courses, and can choose electives related to the fields they enjoy. I felt very
supported in my first year, tutors came to the First-Year Engineering Learning Centre (FYELC) to offer
help and guidance for course work.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone considering studying at UQ, what would that be?

I encourage students to get involved with the numerous opportunities available at UQ, by joining student
societies, volunteering, completing a short-term experience, and attending events throughout the year to
extend their university experience beyond the classroom. Being involved in extra-curricular activities is a
great way to meet like-minded peers, make new friends and immerse yourself into university life at UQ.
