Degree: Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mechanical)
Who or what made you choose to study this?
A passion for maths & physics developed during my high school education. Coupling this with a childhood obsession with boats, planes, and lego. This led me to choose mechanical engineering as a degree.
Why did you choose to study at UQ?
I chose to study at UQ due to the facilities for engineering, such as the workshops, lecture halls and study spaces. Additionally, the amount of support offered by tutors and professors influenced my decision. The extra-curricular activities at UQ have something for everyone, from UQ racing to the beer & rum society.
Have you participated in any internships / work? If so tell us a bit about it, what did you enjoy most about the experience?
I have participitated in a summer internship at the international engineering consulting company AECOM, with continuing part-time work throughout the semester. I enjoyed working in the office with graduate engineers to senior engineers with 30 plus years of experience. The best thing was working with teams on projects, being able to call upon other engineer’s extensive knowledge when needed.
