Growing up, I had an interest in many things computer related. Whether it was about rudimentary website development or casual gaming, I recognise that STEM had plenty of influence on me. When I started my high school journey, I was eager to do as many STEM related activities as possible. However, the lack of available teachers and students made pursuing my interests difficult.

I especially felt this difficulty at a younger age, when talking about STEM related things was limited to my small group of friends. For me, something like Mobile Makerspace would have made me feel seen and would have encouraged me to expand my efforts in bringing STEM culture into my small high school space.

Inspire future STEM professionals across regional and remote Queensland through an immersive education experience

The UQ Mobile Makerspace initiative aims to bridge the gap for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) students outside major city centres. It also supports hands-on creativity and applied problem-solving, encouraging students to explore a wide range of disciplines, from science, technology and engineering through to architecture, design, planning and other fields that benefit from innovative and interdisciplinary thinking.
