Who or what made you choose to study this?

I’ve always admired stunning architecture and colossal infrastructures that make you feel tiny! This love
for architecture and structures resulted in me to pursue design and STEM related subjects in high
school. I found myself desiring to continue my tertiary studies in design as well as physics and math
which resulted in me pursuing a degree that combines all three, engineering! Originally, I was pursuing a
double degree in design and engineering but decided the BE/ME was best suited for the future career
pathways I wish to pursue.

Why did you choose to study at UQ?

UQ is ranked among the world’s top universities and provides countless opportunities to ensure
students are prepared for their futures. Also offering international exchange programs and having an
iconic university campus. UQ was the obvious choice for me!

What do you love most about your degree?

I love seeing the concepts and topics we learn in lectures and tutorials being applicable in the world
around us. I also love having moments with my friends when we point out something we see in real life
we saw in our lectures.

What’s been your favourite course so far and why?

ENGG1100 still remains to be my favourite course as it was my first time having to take concepts and
ideas and forging them to create a physical model! It was an awesome experience, allowing for
opportunities to work with a team as well as use awesome equipment such as 3D printers and the
electronics workshop in UQ Innovate!

If you could give one piece of advice to someone considering studying at UQ, what would that
be?

One piece of advice I’d give to someone would be to take advantage of the vast opportunities of
societies and other extracurricular programs UQ has to offer, it is a great way of making new friends and
finding new hobbies. University life doesn’t need to be always stressful, enjoy it!
