Why did you choose to study at UQ?

One of the reasons why I moved to Brisbane is that I could study at a renowned university, and I found that UQ was the best place for me to study my chosen program. Aside from UQ’s reputation for providing quality education, one of my main motivations for studying here is the university’s strong industry connections, internship programs, and various career development services (for example, UQ’s very own Employability Team!).

What’s been your favourite course so far and why?

CSSE2010 has by far been my favourite course, though it may soon be overtaken by CSSE2310 – a similar course that I’m studying currently. Heads-up though – these are also the most challenging courses I have taken yet! Anyway, I love working with computers, and in my opinion CSSE2010 is the perfect foundational course for building an understanding of computers, combining theory with practical work. It was very enlightening.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone considering studying at UQ, what would that be?

To someone who is considering studying at UQ, I would say: “Just go for it.”
Uni life is very flexible, especially in your early years of studying, and you have a lot of options to suit your uni to you! There is a wide range of opportunities available, both academic and extracurricular, and you are bound to find something you like. If even then UQ doesn’t work out for you (perhaps it doesn’t offer the specific program/major you are looking for), you always have the option to switch or do something about it.
