Who or what made you choose to study this?

I chose to study Engineering after researching Oxfam’s “Water is Life” program and the water engineer’s work and involvement in it. It was insightful to be introduced to the many avenues possible for engineers, and clean, sustainable water is of great interest to me! I also loved Math during high school and I was excited by the opportunity to apply it in such a different context.

Why did you choose to study at UQ?

UQ offered a wide range of majors and great opportunities to enhance my study, including exchange!  I was unsure of what specialisation I would choose when I was in high school, and UQ’s ‘flexible first-year’ program was a big selling point, as I was able to try multiple different specialisations without committing to one prematurely.  I’ve also always loved the campus from when I visited as a kid, so I was really excited to come back as a student.

What’s been your favourite course so far and why?

I really enjoyed my ENGG1100 (Professional Engineering) course. It was my first introduction to team projects and how the engineering principles we learnt in class could be applied to create something really cool! I really enjoyed working with my team and found them all to be great!
Testing our fire truck was definitely memorable!
