Degree: Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Civil/Mining)

Who or what made you choose to study this?

I was set on studying Engineering in high school after hearing from one of my teachers about the varied and exciting career opportunities that come with studying engineering. The ability to work on designing and producing something tangible that benefits people was what mainly drew me in.

What’s been your favourite course so far and why?

I thoroughly enjoyed CIVL3360: Reinforced Concrete Design which focused on the design of concrete beams, slabs and columns. The lecturer was passionate about the content which made classes engaging. In addition, we got to mix and test our concrete which was the highlight of the course.

Have you participated in any internships/work? If so tell us a bit about it, what did you enjoy most about the experience?

Over the summer I worked at Peabody Energy in their Brisbane office as a vacation student. I loved how I got to work on something tangible that had a real impact on the company. I got to learn from many senior leaders in the business and see how vast the industry is.
