Degree: Bachelor of Computer Science / Master of Cyber Security

Who or what made you choose to study this?

I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of white hackers (ethical hacking), and never truly explored coding. As such, I figured it’d be nice to learn something completely new at university.   

What do you love most about your degree?

I enjoy coding modules I have taken! I find that, while they take hard work and effort, it is very fulfilling to see the code I have written turn into something like a game, application, and more. I also love how practical the degree is, as coding is a skill set that is highly applicable in this technical day and age.    

If you could give one piece of advice to someone considering studying at UQ, what would that be?

It would be to check the modules, and not only the degree itself, as the same degree could look different in different universities. Some might be looking for a more math-oriented Computer Science degree, and some might be looking for a more code-oriented Computer Science degree, so modules are a good precursor for the future content you will study in the university!
