Degree: Bachelor of Computer Science (Machine Learning)

Who or what made you choose to study this?

Computer Science has a high surface area of application, opens doors to a variety of careers, teaches you how to think critically from first principles, and is internationally recognised as a core STEM degree.

Have you participated in any internships/work? If so tell us a bit about it, what did you enjoy most about the experience?

Most recently, I spent a month in San Francisco interning at a Fintech startup, Nuvo. Aside from generous free lunches and amazing colleagues, I appreciated the trust and autonomy that I was given, with help still being a Slack message away.

Are you a member of any student societies / participate in extracurricular activities? Tell us a bit about it.

Yes! This year I am treasurer of the UQ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Society (UQIES), Australia's leading student entrepreneurship society. We run hackathons, workshops, social events, and even trips to neighbouring cities and countries to explore their start-up ecosystems.

I joined UQIES in my first week at uni and it’s been a huge part of my university journey ever since. If you want to meet like-minded ambitious students, I can’t recommend UQIES enough.
