Why did you choose to study at UQ?

Having known friends who were studying or alumni of UQ Engineering, I was told that amidst the demanding nature of the curriculum, I would have an enriched learning experience at this university. I would leave with extensive knowledge in my field and abundant opportunities to translate theory into practice while working with some of the leading companies in the industry. As someone who values lifelong learning and is enthusiastic about any real-world experience, I knew UQ was the place I wanted to commence my degree.

What do you love most about your degree?

Due to the framework of my degree, I find myself working on a diverse array of projects, both within small team settings and larger collaborative groups. This dynamic environment fosters opportunities to engage with many other engineering students, each contributing their unique insights and expertise to the collective venture. The best part is creating meaningful connections while navigating these problem-solving tasks within project frameworks. Diverse backgrounds and multidisciplinary perspectives create a broad range of unique ideas, propelling us to develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone considering studying at UQ, what would that be?

I would recommend attending Market Day! Market Day is a great opportunity to get to know all the clubs, societies and extracurricular opportunities UQ has to offer. Being caught up in lectures, pracs and tutorials, we often miss out on opportunities to meet like-minded people, network and build long-lasting connections. While university is a lot about learning and getting a degree, it is important to connect with people by attending events, seminars and casual gatherings.
