Hands-on learning

At the heart of UQ’s engineering curriculum, Professional Engineering (ENGG1100) introduces students to the real-world challenges of engineering through team-based design projects, problem-solving, and creative thinking.

It’s not just about theory - it’s about building, testing, and learning through experience. Students work in multidisciplinary teams to design innovative solutions, often using resources like the UQ Makerspace, a collaborative hub equipped with 3D printers, laser cutters, and electronics tools.

This hands-on environment empowers students to turn ideas into prototypes, reinforcing technical skills and design thinking.

Engineering is a practice, not just a concept. Hands-on learning builds confidence, fosters collaboration, and prepares students to tackle complex problems in the real world.
