UQ Racing has been ranked 11th globally in the latest Formula Student Electric World Rankings out of over 400 teams from around the world. Within Australia, the team continues to be the top-ranked team for the second consecutive year.
Formula Student Electric (FSE) is an international competition where student teams design, build, and race electric vehicles, testing their engineering skills, creativity, and innovation in a high-pressure environment.
According to UQ Racing Team Principal, Madeleine Warner, the FSE World Rankings are a measure of a team’s consistency and innovation across multiple years of competitions.
"Teams are evaluated on engineering, design, and the dynamic performance of their vehicles," Madeleine said
"Each year brings stronger competitors, and the global rankings show how well the UQ team maintains our competitive advantage and demonstrates our commitment to innovation.”
Unlocking opportunities
For students looking to make an impact in fields such as engineering, motorsport, or electric vehicle technology, joining a high-ranking team like UQ Racing can be a game-changer. Madeleine shares that being part of the team provides unique opportunities to connect with industry leaders, gain practical experience, and be part of a community passionate about pushing the limits of electric vehicle technology.
“As UQ Racing continues to grow and innovate, we’re always on the lookout for passionate, motivated students to join the team,” Madeleine said
“Whether you’re an engineering student, a business enthusiast, or simply have a keen interest in motorsport, there are countless opportunities to contribute, learn from leaders in the industry and help shape the next phase of our journey.”
Lucas Bree, 2024 Electric Vehicle Technical Director said teamwork is the key to their success.
"The team's current standing is testament to years of hard work and dedication from our members, as well as ongoing support from our alumni, UQ School of Electrical Engineering and Computing and School of Mechanical and Mining Engineering, and our sponsors,” Lucas said.
“We are very excited and have big things in store for our next competition in December.”
Students are invited to express their interest in UQ Racing across a range of roles for 2025.
