The University of Queensland’s Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology is celebrating, after another successful round of funding from the Australian Research Council.
EAIT Researchers led 13 successful Discovery Projects and had Chief Investigators on four other projects led by other institutions.
Associate Dean (Research) Professor Stuart Crozier said the projects showed the depth and breadth of the research within the faculty, noting that researchers received funding for projects such as blue water aquaculture technology, through to photoelectrochemical systems for solar hydrogen and electricity.
“This is a real testament to the quality of researchers we have at the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology,” Professor Crozier said.
Five of EAIT’s Early Career Researchers received DECRA Fellowships commencing in 2019 and the Faculty also participated in seven successful Linkage, Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities applications.
The news comes just weeks after EAIT picked up 11 Advanced Queensland Industry Research Fellowships, more than any other faculty in Queensland.
“The 2018 Advanced Queensland Fellowship round was very competitive, with only 31 Fellowships being awarded from a field of over 150 applicants,” Professor Crozier said.
“Of this, UQ won 16 and researchers currently in EAIT picked up 11 of those.
“This is a fantastic result that really serves to underscore the relevance and impact of the work we, as a research community, undertake.”
