Join this site visit for an exclusive behind the scenes look and learn first-hand from UQ Alumni Alexander Bell about the art of distilling.

What you will learn:

  • The Basics of Column Distillation
  • What is a miniaturised continuous column distill and how did Alexander design it himself?

One of the first miniaturised continuous column distills in the world, designed by Alexander himself, distills over 200,000 bottles of rum per year. This unique piece of equipment was locally manufactured and assembled by Alexander, showcasing both technological innovation and a dedication to quality craftsmanship in the process of column distillation.

About Milton Rum Distillery:

Our passion is creation. We believe in challenging perceptions by creating highly approachable, contemporary spirits. Our mission is to inspire a new age of rum connoisseurs using old-world techniques and the latest innovations in brewing and distilling. The distillery features a stunning miniaturised continuous column still – one of the most energy and resource-efficient stills in Australia and custom designed by co-founder and chemical engineer Alexander Bell. Given its small size, it can produce 70,000-200,000 bottles per year at a fraction of the cost of other distilleries.
