Hosted by the EAIT Student Employability Team:

Join this insightful masterclass to hear from Energy Queensland’s Daniel Eghbal, Manager Future Network Strategy, Adrian Lloyd, Technical Program Lead EO&A and Simone Burke, Early Careers Coordinator as they talk about the power industry and innovations that will lead to an increase in renewable energy sources and the recruitment process and tips for the Future of Energy Engineering Scholarship Program.

Session topic: Revolutionizing the Power Industry: Innovations driving the shift towards renewable energy sources

With more than 900,000 solar energy systems connected to our distribution networks, Queensland is already leading the world in hosting rooftop solar. We need to rapidly modernise the power system to support our ambitious renewable energy targets and the Climate positive Olympics. This requires fundamental changes in how we used to generate and consume electricity. In addition to emerging technologies such as battery energy storage, artificial intelligence, we need to upskill our engineers and attract engineers with complex problem-solving skills. This session gives an overview of the innovative solutions that Energex and Ergon Energy are implementing to enable a clean, reliable and affordable future and outlines some of the key challenges and opportunities in front of us.

This masterclass will have 3 components:

  1. Revolutionizing the Power Industry (led by Daniel Eghbal)
  2. Top Tips for your application process - from resume to interview (led by Adrian Lloyd)
  3. Timeline of application process for Future of Energy Engineering Scholarship (led by Simone Burke)

Relevant Disciplines:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechatronic Engineering

Energy Queensland's primary focus for their scholarship will be Electrical Engineering students. The majority of scholarships will be awarded to students studying electrical, electronic, power and mechatronics engineering, with some places for mechanical, civil and structural engineering students.

Students studying dual / double degrees in electrical engineering are highly valued and will be viewed favourably.

Students undertaking the University of Queensland Integrated Bachelor and Masters Degree (5 year) are encouraged to apply.
