Looking for ways to enhance your employability but don’t know where to start? This one-day event will provide engineering, design, architecture, planning and computing students at UQ the opportunity to enhance their career identities, strengths and understand where their personal and professional values are positioned.
Through hands-on, diverse and inspiring sessions (all run by industry!) the bootcamp will encourage you to start forward thinking about your future careers with content and resources that are needed in addition to your degree to be job-ready.

2pm-3.30pm:

Hands on workshops - Students are invited to nominate where they currently sit for their employability journey and receive hands on assistance to help them achieve their goals.

Workshop A: Back to Basics - Are you just starting to think about employment in your discipline but not sure where to start?

Topics covered may include resume/cover letter writing, the power of LinkedIn, activities you can be undertaking whilst still studying to help boost employment and networking.

Workshop B: Pick up the Pace - Do you have a CV and LinkedIn presence and are ready to get experience in the industry?

Topics covered may include interview practice incl mock interviews, current job market for student/graduate recruitment, what makes a resume/interview/portfolio stand out and nuances between different discipline recruitment (architecture vs engineering vs IT).

Workshop C: The Final Countdown - Are you near graduation and looking for graduate employment?

Topics covered may include transitioning into the workplace, how to navigate multiple job offers OR no offers, workplace etiquette, employer expectations, early leadership development.

3.45pm-4.45pm: Hear career stories from our diverse range of graduates. They'll share tips they wish they knew whilst studying and provide insights into the world of work.

5pm- 7pm: Industry Mixer

(Note: this is a separate event. If you would like to attend the bootcamp and the mixer you will need to choose the bootcamp & mixer ticket option at the checkout. SPOTS ARE LIMITED for the industry mixer. Don't miss out!)

The day is open for all engineering, architecture, design, planning, and computing students from The University of Queensland. Every session is run by INDUSTRY and there are sessions to cater for ALL our EAIT students and disciplines.

Dress Code: Smart/business attire. (Dress for the job you want! You'll be able to get your LinkedIn headshot on the day!)
