Bachelor of Engineering (Hons)/Master of Engineering
The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Master of Engineering program is a 5-year program designed to give students an overall education in engineering, as well as specialist knowledge in fields such as mechanical/aerospace or software engineering.
In this program, students undertake a twenty-four-week, full-time placement with industry or a research institution either in Australia or overseas, and complete advanced coursework and project work in their final year.
Students are required to undertake a placement of up to 24 weeks in duration between January and June for semester 1.
These courses are restricted to specific disciplines and differ depending on the semester. Please see below the course codes for eligible disciplines.
Please note: This course falls outside the regular semester dates.

Learning Objectives
After successfully completing this course, students should be able to:
- Use a project brief from industry or a research lab to identify a problem, its associated risks and opportunities, and to formulate a solution.
- Locate and evaluate relevant literature and prior art; locate, access, select and use technical and commercial information from various sources; relate prior knowledge to the problem to identify how it can best be applied to tackle the problem.
- Gather and analyse data or elicit requirements, and develop concepts.
- Select and apply appropriate research or design methods and be able to draw conclusions based on evidence and argument.
- Maintain professional standard records; use the means provided on a regular basis to create a thorough record of ideas, plans, discussions, decisions etc. and to reflect on progress made and milestones reached.
- Use appropriate conventions to communicate the information in reports and presentations.
- Identify critical aspects of professional behaviour within the professional context and conduct yourself accordingly.
