Leaders of Influence Perth

Industry leaders, friends and alumni of The University of Queensland are invited to attend a special ‘Leaders of Influence’ Series event, featuring Nev Power, Chairman, Perth Airport.

Nev will deliver a thought provoking keynote titled 'Current challenges facing Corporate and Community Australia'

Reflecting on a long and successful career in the mining, steel and construction sectors, Nev Power offers a perspective on the valuable contribution that the resources industry can - and should - make to the communities in which it operates. Aligned to the critical need for the business sector to rebuild community trust, the opportunities offered by a shared understanding of challenges and expectations for community benefit will be explored.

About Nev Power
Neville (Nev) is the Chairman of Perth Airport and Chairman of the Foundation for the WA Museum. Nev held the position of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fortescue Metals Group Ltd, having joined the miner in February 2011. During his tenure, Fortescue more than quadrupled its production to over 170 million tonnes per annum and positioned itself as the lowest cost supplier of seaborne iron ore to China. Nev was previously Chief Executive of the Australian operations at Theiss and prior to that spent more than ten years in senior executive positions at Smorgon Steel Group. In 2016, he was named WA Business Leader of the Year. Nev also has a long history in agribusiness and aviation holding both fixed wing and helicopter commercial pilot licences.
