Meet our guest

Isabelle Fleming

They say that variety is the spice of life, and Isabelle’s experiences while studying mechanical engineering at UQ have certainly made for a very interesting four years. Her work across aerospace, machining, orthopaedics and mining have taken her everywhere from Gladstone to Shanghai.

She has also been an active member of the Mechanical Engineering Student Society, the Engineering Undergraduate Society and was a student leader with the Women in Engineering program in 2017 and 2018. She has been the recipient of several university scholarships including the Rio Tinto Excellence Award, New Colombo Grant and Women in Action Fund.

After Isabelle’s first year of study, her journey took on a distinctly entrepreneurial turn when she was a part of her first founding team with UQ Space. Since then, she has explored both the UQ and Brisbane ecosystems and worked in several startups. In 2019-20 she was the co-founder and CEO of Koi Pay Australia and led the team through UQ’s iLab accelerator program, one of the best university incubators in the country.

Isabelle will graduate from The University of Queensland in 2021 and work in a graduate role with McKinsey and Company Consulting in Melbourne.
