Available Fields of Study:

*New fields of study available in 2021

What has been discontinued?
  • The Fields of Study in Chemical and Biological Engineering and Civil and Fire Safety Engineering have been discontinued. Existing students in these fields will be able to complete their current program.
  • ENGG1200 was last offered in Sem 2, 2020 and has been discontinued – if you require a replacement for this course, read further information below.
  • ENGG1700 replaces ENGG1400 – some dynamics content is moving to MATH1052. * If you commenced prior to 2021 and are intending to study Mechanical or Mechatronics and have NOT completed ENGG1400, please seek advice from your academic advisor.
Continuing in the pre-2021 program after changing from BE(Hons) or BE(Hons) dual program

Students program changing to the BE(Hons)/ME in 2021 after completing at least 16 units in the BE(Hons) or BE(Hons) dual program may follow the pre-2021 program structure in the BE(Hons)/ME except when selecting a field of study that was first introduced in 2021 (Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering). Please refer to the relevant pre-2021 checklist below to plan your enrolment in the BE(Hons)/ME program.

I want to change to the new program

In some instances, pre-2021 students may choose to change to the new program structure. If you wish to select a field of study that was introduced in 2021 (Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering), you will need to follow the new program structure. Please contact the EAIT student administration team to discuss this

If you choose to change to the new curriculum, you will be required to follow the 2021 program structure and program requirements. Please note that in some instances, there are no existing substitutions for new compulsory courses in the new program.

This may mean that you will be required to complete additional courses above the minimum program requirements. In addition, due to the progressive rollout of some new course offerings, this may also result in a potential delay to your graduation.

It is very important that existing students seek academic advice before requesting to change into the new program.

What is the replacement course for ENGG1200?

ENGG1200 was a compulsory course in the pre-2021 engineering structure. As ENGG1200 has been discontinued, students who have not yet successfully completed this course are required to take an alternative course in place of ENGG1200. The replacement course will vary depending on your chosen major and the courses you have already successfully completed.

The following outlines the replacement course for ENGG1200 by major. Students must be read the requirements in order and follow the first requirement that is applicable to their studies (i.e. requirement 1 has precedence over requirement 2, and requirement 2 has precedence over requirement 3). Please contact the EAIT Faculty Office if you require any assistance interpreting this information.

  1. If you have not completed ENGG1200 and you have not completed ENGG1400 – you must complete ENGG1700
  2. If you have not completed ENGG1200 and you have completed ENGG1400 and you have not completed CSSE1001 – you must complete ENGG1001 or CSSE1001
  3. If you have not completed ENGG1200 and you have completed both ENGG1400 and CSSE1001 – you must complete an engineering program elective.
