Robogals and UQ invite girls in Year 7 - Year 12 to attend a full-day Robotics Workshop at UQ’s St Lucia campus.

During the day, students will be able to try hands-on robotics activities and meet some of our female Engineering and IT students.

Lunch will be provided.

Please do not register for the workshop unless your child is in year 7 to year 12. If your child is not this age, unfortunately, they will not be able to participate in the workshop and you will forfeit your payment. Girls in grade 4 - grade 6 can attend our junior workshop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a student need to know anything about robotics to attend?

No! We will teach students everything about lego robotics from the very beginning. The only background knowledge assumed is a basic level of English reading comprehension and basic computer/mouse skills.

Will a student who already has Mindstorms experience be bored?

No! The beginning may be a bit slow as we cover basic skills with the entire group, but we will quickly proceed to problem-solving tasks that can be a challenge to students of any skill level. Most activities are designed for beginner-intermediate level students, but we will give special challenges to advanced students. Do you have a lot of Mindstorms experience and want to learn new skills? Ask us when you arrive, or contact us before the workshop and we will ensure there are activities you will enjoy!

What will students need to bring?

Their imagination and their brain! Nothing else is required. A pen/pencil and a piece of paper may be useful, but students can also use the whiteboards in the venue for their notes and planning. Lunch and morning tea are provided (please advise of any dietary needs on booking).

Is there a similar event for boys?

Yes! Check out our Introduction to Robotics workshop and Artificial Intelligence workshop.
