Associate Professor Peter Sutton is the Associate Dean (Academic) for the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology. Peter joined UQ in November 1998 as a Lecturer in the Information Environments Program at UQ Ipswich. In 2002 he moved to St Lucia as a Senior Lecturer in Computer Systems and in 2005 became Director of Coursework Studies in the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering - a position he held until 2015. He served as Deputy Associate Dean (Academic) from late 2007 and became Associate Dean (Academic) in 2016. Peter is an award winning teacher in computer systems engineering, having won a UQ teaching award in 2005 and a national (Carrick) award for teaching excellence in 2007. Peter has a particular interest in teaching spaces, having led the development of the Axon Learning Lab (2009), the GPSouth teaching space refurbishment (2013), the Axon/Hawken Electrical Engineering lab refurbishment (2014-2015) and the GPSouth Computer Lab refurbishment (2015–2016).
