What do you study?

A Bachelor of Architectural Design.

Why did you choose to study at UQ?

When I went to the open day and saw some of the projects students were working on I knew I wanted to do something like that. UQ also have some of the best lecturers who are outstanding professionals in their field so I knew I would be getting the best advice. Also, I wanted to go to a residential college on campus and I was able to combine the course and college on one campus.

Why did you choose to study your discipline?

It combined everything I’m passionate about: design, history, art, sustainability. I also believe that design can heavily impact the quality of people’s lives and I would like to make a positive difference through my work if possible.

What advice do you have for prospective students interested in studying engineering, architecture, computer science and/or information technology at UQ?

Definitely make the most of every opportunity that the university offers. It’s through these events that you learn and network with others in your field. I would also encourage students to always be working on their graphic skills, even in the holidays. Revit, archicad, Photoshop, rhino etc. It is these skills that will help you with your communication in your assignments and in the long run.

What is your favourite place on campus?

Merlos Cafe for a much needed caffeine hit.

What do you love most about your degree?

That I’ve had the opportunity to work on some really interesting projects and learn from some amazing tutors who have really pushed me and encouraged me and opened my mind up to a new way of thinking. I don’t think I will look at the world in the same way ever again.

What makes you a great EAIT Student Ambassador?

I am friendly, genuine and enthusiastic.
