What do you study?

I studying a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Master of Engineering in Chemical and Biological Engineering

Why did you choose to study at UQ?

During high school I was involved in the Enhanced Studies Program (ESP), which allows you to complete a university course while in Year 12. This program was an insight into the university experience, and programs offered by UQ. The high quality of the course I completed, along with the experienced teaching staff, led me to attend UQ for my university degree.

Why did you choose to study your discipline?

During my time in the ESP program, I was exposed to the different degrees being completed by others in my course of choice. Among these, was engineering, and particularly chemical and biological engineering. I was drawn to the applications of this degree to the pharmaceutical industry, and was intrigued by the possibility of working on lifesaving biologics and so I chose the chemical and biological engineering.

What advice do you have for prospective students interested in studying engineering, architecture, computer science and/or information technology at UQ?

I would advise prospective students to explore different applications of degrees they may be interested in, and to look at the job prospects to find which is the best fit for them. Having a clear employment goal or field of interest helps to motivate you within your degree, as well as guide you toward relevant opportunities which I encourage prospective students to embrace!

What do you love most about your degree?

I love the variety of courses I study, due to my chemical and biological engineering. I have had the opportunity to learn about many different industries and potential jobs related to my degree. Additionally, I have found the teaching staff are very encouraging and provide many opportunities for students to engage with possible internships, tours of facilities and research related to their degree.

What makes you a great EAIT Student Ambassador?

I believe I make a good student ambassador for UQ EAIT as I am passionate about encouraging and supporting students, and am appreciative of the support I have received myself.
