Join us as a #MarsMaker as we build a NASA Mars Viking Lander to celebrate the first successful Mars Surface Mission!

#MarsMaker events are the Viking Mars Missions Education and Preservation Project' signature educational series worldwide, where Viking mission experts and the community are brought together to share lessons on the Viking mission, science, engineering and leadership.

This fun event promises to provide an educational and entertaining experience as you work together to solve engineering, design and construction challenges.

Real engineering and teamwork is required to make the build successful, but everyone can contribute! Participants will work together with Volunteers to use scrap metal, duct tape, glue guns, manual screwdrivers to construct the craft.

NASA fans, space enthusiasts and families are welcome to join us for this event for all ages and abilities.

The event will run in two sessions:
  • Morning session: 9:00am - 11:30am
  • Afternoon session: 12:30pm - 3:00pm

Please note: children under 16 must be supervised by an adult.

NASA's Viking mission

NASA's Viking mission made history when it became the first mission to successfully land a fully operational spacecraft on Mars. This mission gave us our first real look at the Martian surface, as well as the fundamental science that has enabled continued missions to the Red Planet, laying the foundation for NASA’s Journey to Mars
