What's Zoom?

Zoom allows you to communicate via video, audio and instant messaging, as well as share live screens or presentations. All staff and students have access to Zoom, which can be installed on both Windows and Mac systems.

UQ provides help and support for installing Zoom.

This essential information session for commencing engineering students is designed to help get you started in your degree.

You will get the information you need to plan your enrolment, have the opportunity to ask questions, and you will meet other students and academic staff in your program.

Who should attend?

This session is compulsory for new students studying:

  • The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)
  • The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Master of Engineering
  • A dual degree which includes the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)
How to join your session

This Orientation session will be hosted online via Zoom on 30 July 2020 at 1.45pm–3.45pm.

  1. Before your session starts, make sure you have Zoom installed on your device and are able to log in with your UQ username and password.
  2. On the day of the event, a link to the session will become available. Hit the button to 'Launch session' and join a live Zoom meeting.
  3. To talk to an academic advisor, you will be invited to join the virtual queue using Padlet. Click to join the virtual queue, select log in with Microsoft, and enter your UQ email (xxx@uqconnect.uq.edu.au) and password (follow these instructions to log in to Padlet). Add your name to a waiting list, and then follow the Zoom link for the advisor. The advisor will call you into the meeting when it is your turn.
