The Flipped Classroom

Our Teaching-Focussed Academic team is leading the way internationally with an innovative ‘flipped classroom’ learning approach, challenging students to think and act like professionals from their very first day at University. Class time is spent on collaborative inquiry-based learning that supports hands-on engineering design projects or studio-based learning in architecture, allowing for the integration of both knowledge and professional practice through authentic experiences. UQ is a member of the world’s leading consortium of massive open online courses (MOOCs). Through a partnership with EDx, developed by Harvard and MIT, students from around the world will be able to learn in areas taught by UQ’s global experts in many top-ranked disciplines including our world-leading hypersonics program. Leading Curriculum Development

Teaching teams within the Faculty are leading curriculum development and the creative application of new teaching pedagogies with many awards for teaching and learning development, and multiple national grants to transform engineering education. UQ is also the first Australian university to implement an integrated Bachelor/Master degree in engineering providing advanced course content.
