140+ teams of first-year student engineers are putting their prototypes to the test!

UQ Engineering invites you to join us at our demo days to watch first-year student engineers test their glider and stormwater treatment prototypes. Over 900 students will showcase and test the prototypes which they have been designing and building as part of ENGG1200 over the past 12 weeks.

The demo days are part of the hands-on first-year engineering course ENGG1200 (Engineering Modelling and Problem Solving), which introduces student engineers to project management, problem-solving and design.

The Glider

with Boeing

Students have built an aircraft prototype for Boeing to be launched from a high-energy rail. Each glider must be able to broadcast its state of landing and maximise both distance travelled and endurance.

Where: WEP Harris Oval 1, near AIBN building (75)
When: Thursday 19 October and Friday 20 October
Viewing times: 9am - 12pm and 1pm - 3pm

Stormwater Treatment

with The Royal Australian Navy

Students have designed and built physical and control systems for The Royal Australian Navy to assist with runoff from their fire training area to be treated with a reagent that is activated at a certain temperature via a batch process.

Where: Room 113A, Don Nicklin Building (74)
When: Thursday 19 October and Friday 20 October
Viewing times: 10am - 12pm and 1:30pm - 2:30pm
